Clay flowerpots in the rain…

For March’s ART CLUB we were really excited to be  making some clay flower pots that we will be planting in next month. The Clay Studio Manchester  very kindly  supported us in this by providing us with coloured slip to paint onto our pots and will then be firing them in their kiln and glazing them for us.  We can’t wait to see the finished pieces!

Despite the lingering drizzly manchester rain (that we were really sure would clear up but didn’t!!) we still managed to all make our pots, paint them and create nice patterns in the coloured slip by carving into them with a skewer.

Alongside the clay flower pot making, there was playdough for the really little ones, hot chocolates and brews to keep us all warm and the chance to graffiti on our second #showthelove heart messages and ideas about how we can look after our immediate environment in Old Trafford.  Keep an eye out in the coming weeks to see these put up around Old Trafford.

It is also really lovely to see more signs of spring appearing in our large planters that we planted back in november with Cath Wade from The St Johns Centre gardening club.  Why not take a walk down the alley to see for yourself!

Next Art Club will be on Saturday 14th April 2-3pm in the Alley where we will be planting in our flowerpots and getting creative with a spring theme!!!
